Another great example Hotel and Gaming Trades Council fighting for working families. Unemployment benefits should be a short term safety net to get people through tough times. But at less than the minimum wage that net has more holes than Swiss cheese and too many people are falling into poverty.

Anyone can lose their job. 400,000 New Yorkers do every year. But at only $504 a week, just over $12 an hour, unemployment insurance doesn't cover the rising costs of rent, food and utilities. It is time to fix unemployment insurance.
