BREAKING: Goldsmiths uni in south London has agreed to the demands made by students who’ve held six months of protest for Gaza.

Students have protested against management, had an occupation for five weeks and held a flash encampment in the library.

Today is World Press Freedom Day:

Since Oct 7th Israel has murdered 149 out of 195 Palestinian journalists.

More journalists were killed in the first 10 weeks of the genocide than in any single country over an entire year.

Israel will still not allow journalists into Gaza.

Funny how the moment Palestine is brought into the fore all institutions are suddenly changing their charters claiming now to be apolitical, and that it’s not in their remit to get involved in ‘geopolitical conflicts’…

Even as artists, writers, thinkers & cultural workers we are divided morally, politically & on basic principle over the wholesale violence & mass murder committed on Palestinian bodies by Israel and its partners.

There needs to now be an alternative.

The resolution brought forward by Society of Authors members calling for a statement to be made in support of a ceasefire in Gaza, didn't pass.

That means the murder of 40,000+ Palestinians isn't enough to compel a majority vote among British writers. What a time.
