Dr Tanya When I was an FY-equivalent, in 1979, I was expected to be present in theatre whenever any of our patients were being operated on, and I had my own minor-ops list once a month. Because surgery is all about surgery.

Something has gone very wrong.

The impact of changing to a 'casino' shift style rota system.

Casino shifts maximise the time you are sleeping between 0100 and 0600.

Early results (based on data recorded from wearable sleep monitors in 8 subjects) show an improvement in sleep quality and risk.

If someone has a history of severe trauma, ADHD medications can lead to increased levels of distress by removing their ability to “float away” when feeling unsafe. Concurrent therapy is important for this group of patients.

Child and adolescent psychiatrists feel comfortable in assessing and treating ADHD. The same isn’t true for adult psychiatrists - many of whom receive little training in ADHD despite it being a common, serious, and treatable condition.

Pleased to see that this DRAMATIC CATASTROPHIC error was highlighted by Sandy.
Really hope this is now a never event.

CHECK CHECK CHECK your ampoules. Especially in an emergency C-Section.
Consider CSF lavage (?how 🤔)

Salbutamol for transient tachypnoea of the ?

An RCT of 90 infants found statically significant improvement in RR, oxygen indices and clinical score with single dose of 2.5mg salbutamol.

Be interested to see how this develops

My PhD is on atrial fibrillation - faced with a patient in AF on night shift I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go for DCCV / amiodarone / beta blocker / magnesium / potassium / all the above / none of the above 😂 - humbling

Obviously need to end the double standard of endless blood monitoring of clozapine which inhibits its use. Classic example of risk management mindset missing the point and creating more harm and mortality by inhibiting use of this special medication

An older drawing showing why grabbing 'extra' fat and muscle when closing the fascia can lead to separation of the fascia later on.

On the next slide, we'll use simple geometry to understand why suture 'A' is not as good as suture 'B'.

Such a pity essentially no 'major' journals publish case reports any more. Everyone talks about the importance of narrative in learning, and the papers we remember from 100 years ago tend to be the case reports. Key case reports can be massively impactful. But no.
