Laying a nest is dirty business and this sea turtle certainly knows it. Sea turtles will dig big body pits where they lay their eggs. In the process they can be known to throw a lot of sand around and knock things over.

COPROT - Tortugas de Osa are a community-led conservation association that aims to integrate local residents in the conservation of the Osa Peninsula, & more specifically the sea turtle nesting beaches of Rio Oro & Carate. We supported their project with US $10,000 for this year.
We will be joining our local Osa cooperative beach clean-up on Saturday, Jan 15th at Playa Preciosa. We invite any locals to join our team. This beach clean-up is organized by COPROT - Tortugas de Osa, an organization that protects endangered turtles & their nesting environments.
