i’ve been thinking about this all day

lately I’m trying to love myself the way I love the sky. and trees. and how wild blackberries taste, still warm with sun. the way I love my sister, and summer storms. nature made these things, right? and it made me, too, right? so why not love me, too? why not forgive me, too?

Ok but when I read, 'I hope the light is always green,' why did I imagine being still under a quiet forest canopy

sometimes it bursts through all the static like headlights on a foggy morning drive: this is the only life I’ll ever get, on the only planet I’ll ever live to see. I should look at the sky more, I should listen more. I should drink that tangerine soda in my fridge.

a magic thing is everyone has all this stuff swirling inside them like hopes & dreams & fears & childhood memories of long shadows on grassy fields & firefly flickers & licking popsicle-melt off their wrists but from the outside we can’t see any of that we just see Greg from work
