When you imply or argue that if someone quotes a particular author favorably at any point, then he or she must hold to all the views that that particular author holds at all other points is wrong. Through guilt-by-association, you are misrepresenting your opponent.

In other words, even if you believe that someone’s belief X could or will lead others who hold that position to belief Y, do not accuse them of holding to belief Y themselves if they disown it.

Some thoughts on how we do internet interactions:

Archibald Alexander, first professor at Princeton Seminary: “Attribute to an antagonist no opinion he does not own, though it be a necessary consequence.” (quoted in David Calhoun, Princeton Seminary, vol I, p.92).

If you were a hundred times worse than you are, your sins would be no match for His mercy.

We are not saved by the perfection of our turning and trusting-our repentance and faith-but by the object of our faith, Jesus and his saving work. If our forgiveness depended on the purity of our repentance and faith, then our salvation would be because of our good works.

Psalms is about how to throw ourselves fully on God. Proverbs is about how having trusted God, we should live it out buff.ly/3e7dB5j

If you lose hope for anybody or if you show contempt for anybody, you don’t really know you’re a sinner saved by grace. You’re more religious than you are a Christian. The gospel is for everybody. – Timothy Keller (1950-2023)

Do you realize what’s going to happen on the day of the resurrection? Everything sad will become untrue. This is the most radical view of suffering. – Timothy Keller (1950-2023)

Increased time on social media correlates with a measurable loss of empathy. See Sherry Turkle's research on this. buff.ly/3x26wzv

The Christian understanding of sin is different than what most people think. One cannot preach a sermon or say a prayer without sinning. That means 'sin' is not only wrong actions, it can even be right actions done for the wrong reasons.
