What Tim Echols is pushing here is a characteristic we call RESILIENCY - the ability of a system to survive a disruption. On the grid, that’s the sudden loss of a generating unit. He’s spot on here. Please read!

I was just on a panel about the future of the East Coast grid. We concluded that we need a reliable grid with diverse types of generators.
Then I saw this tweet and op-ed by Tim Echols. I guess great minds think alike!

While I’m not sure I would have voted the same way were I on the Commission, I’m not. My friend & colleague Tim Echols lays out his rationale for the recent PSC vote on GPC’s capacity additions.

We are here at ZooATL today to give out $8000 in cash prizes for schools that have been recycling glass this year. Over 18 tons of glass has been collected and will make its way down to Valdosta Georgia to the Arglass furnace. I was inspired to do this by WSB Radio circa 1978.

Very good op-ed. For a modern society, electricity is like oxygen. A reliable supply is essential for survival.
Building reliability into a grid isn’t cheap or easy, but it’s necessary.

Commissioner Tim Echols explains why GPSC approved Georgia Power's revised IRP for additional natural gas capacity. That being--energy diversity & security. This reflects energy pragmatism & power sector realities--in stark contrast with TX & CA. ajc.com/opinion/georgi…
