Gutted to see the redundancies at openDemocracy - the UK is losing so many vital independent journalists and outlets at the moment, there are real implications for scrutiny of politicians and corporates. Solidarity with everyone laid off.

By age 20 I had already:
- Become a manager
- Ran for election twice
- Taken out £50,000 in student loans
- Rented my own home
- First aid trained
- Lifeguard
- Solo travelled to another country

But I still shouldn’t be able to transition for another 5 years? What utter bollocks

Notes on the Cass review:
- Researchers dismissed 101 out of 103 research papers of evidence behind trans healthcare
- A researcher behind the methodology for the report is part of a conversion therapy group

Brain maturation happens continuously throughout your whole life. There's stuff I was not good at making decisions about until my thirties.

This is not reason enough to deny young people the right to make decisions. This is why we have Gillick

you simply cannot decide that for one minority, adulthood begins at a different age to everyone else. we already did this with age of consent for gay men, and people fought back and won

My parents fought so hard to get me into mainstream school in the early 90s (it was initially presumed I wouldn't be able to read or write... funny how that turned out). How are we here 30 years later? Tempest is one of the biggest school photography firms! P.s. Your horror child

Good on Gordon Brown for coming out with a multi-billion pound call to tackle Britain’s growing destitution crisis. For all New Labour’s faults, Brown had a genuine moral drive to tackle poverty. Starmer should take notes. theguardian.com/society/2024/m…

For the The Guardian, I tracked down a bunch of real life rollercoaster designers to ask them how one of my favourite games - Rollercoaster Tycoon - changed their lives.

I also spoke to the game's creator, Chris Sawyer, and Atari's CEO. Proud of this 1:

Goldsmith Street, Norwich - winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2019, 100 percent social housing, Passivhaus -and now being privatised by Right to Buy. Such a devastating indictment of that policy.

Our investigation into the ways the health and care visa punishes whistleblowers, and creates conditions for widespread exploitation has been covered by newspapers in Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and South Africa.

This is a sign of how important this story is for people outside the UK.

'Labour's opportunistic sanctimony is difficult to stomach. This is the definition of instrumentalisation. Racism is not a game. When a party exploits it for its own political advantage, it cheapens the accusation and deepens the cynicism.' theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

New piece on Zone of Interest: the speech, the lies, most of all, Glazer's harrowing warning about how genocide can become 'ambient.'

This is what feels most contemporary, most of this terrible moment, about Glazer’s staggering film.
