The parents of Oklahoma school children need to file suit against the State Board of Education if they are not provided with services guaranteed by the federal government. This includes services for special needs kids and qualified teachers. Lawsuits get their attention fast.

Teaching in April and May is arguably worse than teaching in August and Sept. They are feral children.

In a new survey, 2,500 K-12 teachers were asked what they believe are the biggest problems schools are facing.

Here they are…
•Poverty
•Chronic Absenteeism
•Anxiety & Depression
•Bullying
•Drug Use
•School Fights
•Alcohol Use
•Gangs

Advocate GOAT I am a teacher and a parent. Being a parent helped me in teaching but teaching has helped me much more in my parenting.

SLWells Advocate GOAT The publication is biased. Homeschoolers don’t have 25+ other students. Homeschoolers are often not experiencing poverty, food insecurity among other social inequities which affect education.

Nor does being a parent mean you always know what’s best for your child.

Your biases drives your decisions.

Advocate GOAT I really don’t think most people understand how much we know about the content we teach, plus childhood development, classroom management, etc etc.

I sub teach frequently. I have a degree in sports med, not education. I can help students with assignments and occasionally teach a subject. But lesson planning? Communicating with parents? Pedagogy? Out of my league. There is so much more to teaching!
