Since BotW I’ve had this theory that this type of porous “volcanic” like rock was made by Malice (and gloom now too) and with these photos I feel it’s kinda confirmed they do indeed do this! The red wall is seen at the jump point below the Imprisoning Chamber above the gloom tree

These iron stained rocks were originally laid down as organic-rich sediments in a tropical lagoon in the late Visean. They were relatively chill undergoing diagenesis for ~10-20 million years, then they got baked by intruding magma during an intense period of volcanic activity
