Today at Buckingham Palace, The King welcomed Ms. Sue Leyden (daughter of Lord Hunt), Mr. Peter Hillary (son of Sir Edmund Hillary) and Mr. Jamling Norgay (son of Mr. Tenzing Norgay) to mark the 70th anniversary of the ascent of Mount Everest.

Retracing his father’s steps, The Duke of Edinburgh today visited Woodrow High House to hear more about London Youth’s work to provide outdoor learning to young people living in the city.

Today, commemorations mark 650 years of the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance, the oldest diplomatic alliance in the world still in force.

🎉 Happy 100th Birthday to Lieutenant Michael de Burgh!

On the day The Queen was appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Lancers, Her Majesty presented Mr de Burgh (who turns 100 this week) with a Regimental honour, the Buchan Medal.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Flying Scotsman, the famous engine pulled the Royal Train as The King arrived at @NYMR.

The week ahead of #Windrush75 Day, The King and Queen have hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace in celebration of the Windrush Generation and to mark 75 years since the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush.

The King has been graciously pleased to appoint The Queen to the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

The Order represents the highest honour in Scotland. Revived by King James VII, the Order has a complement of 16 Knights.

Ahead of the NSPCC’s Childhood Day, The Duchess of Edinburgh, the charity’s Patron, visited Richard Atkins Primary School in Brixton to join school children taking part in special fundraising activities, including the #ChildhoodDay mile.
