Another day, another school board being forced to make cuts due to inadequate funding from the government. How many more until the government properly invests in our education system?

So Education Ontario has agreed to 5 days of negotiations with OSSTF over the next two months in case anybody was wondering about the pace of bargaining these days. Five. Days. And I’m sure Stephen Lecce is working on his “this needs to be settled be Labour Day” speech now.

In an attempt to deal with staffing shortages, Quebec is offering a lump sum payment of $12,000 to teaching staff eligible for retirement if they volunteer to remain on the job full time for the 2023-2024 academic year. Meanwhile, ON does nothing.

🚨It’s ok to talk about wages, . There’s clearly enough money to get what you deserve, & to fund what students need. It’s not either/or.

It’s ok to talk about wages.

Demand better than 14 years of being told your work is worth less & less each year.

Rolling out a new language curriculum a week before the end of the school year that is to be implemented in September is so on brand for this government.

They have zero respect for educators and little regard for the best interest of students.

Of course he drops a new curriculum on June 20 with 8 days left in the year and the expectation it will be implemented in September. What a dick.

I’m a good teacher who doesn’t want to keep doing this.
It’s hard to be in the middle of something being systematically broken and given away.

Unions watch.

School boards keep smiling through grit/shattering teeth.

Doug Ford sits on $22,000,000,000.

The new Ontario language curriculum is…kind of amazing? AND expecting educators to roll this out with no training and no lead time is absurd. Both thing can be true!

There's no drinkable water at my end of the school.
We've had a broken exterior window for 3 weeks.
The caretaking team is short-staffed.
The gym ceiling is falling down.

But at least & the Cons have socked away $22B in excess funding for a rainy day.

Mrs. McCaw I’m assuming your post is a joke. The Min of Ed is inviting teachers to do extra PD during the last week of school in June at 5PM? Another tone deaf idea hatched by Stephen Lecce and his disconnected crew & designed to gather data to undermine teachers .

The math is simple: 6.8% is significantly less than 17.3%. The Ford government is critically underfunding education across this province and our kids are paying the price.
