Fascinating These ancient whales had many archaic traits such as external hind legs, a slimmer body, a smaller brain, and even different types of teeth. Which modern Odontocete whales mostly have one type of teeth.
In fact, here is a molar from Eocene Morocco belonging to Basilosaurus sp.

#FossilFriday cetacean bite marks are extremely rare in the fossil record but there are, this neogene leather back turtle has bite marks that may have been inflicted by an odontocete, perhaps a kentriodont (possibly one of the larger ones, judging by the bite mark width).
