Happy Earth Day from Ningaloo Reef!

This year's Earth Day theme is Planet vs. Plastics. At Our Ocean Greece last week, the U.S. pledged $500 million to protect the ocean, including $60 million to eliminate plastics.

If you’re on the water and going to speed please be vigilant of your surroundings and the animals that call the ocean home. Sad to see this baby with such large injuries, luckily they don’t appear to be anything more than superficial

Ambassador Kennedy and Consul General Nair were lucky to spend Earth Day swimming with whale sharks on Ningaloo Reef in WA.

They were joined by marine scientists from Minderoo Foundation studying how to make coral more resilient in the face of warming oceans.

The mass coral bleaching currently seen on large parts of the Great Barrier Reef has left people feeling saddened. It’s also prompted people to ask how Ningaloo is faring.

It's amazing how fast a year goes.

At this moment last year we were in the middle of totality of the Ningaloo Total Solar Eclipse.

Jennifer Gunter It depends on everything else you’re doing and where you’ll be. Somewhere with red earth in central, north or Western Australia is always special. If you don’t get there this time there’s an excuse to come back! My recent trip to Ningaloo Reef and WA was spectacular.
