I am shocked that Equinox Gold outbid Newmont Mining or Barrick Gold for the remaining 40% stake of #Greenstone . Equinox had an ROFR, but I thought Orion Mine Finance would wait a few yrs to sell the stake for a few billion Dollars after the mine had a lot of free cash flow.

Basically nothing changed after the acquisition of Greenstone.

$EQX stock price falls 7% to $5.31 in the aftermarket, close to the bought deal equity price of $5.30. I’m expecting a recovery tomorrow due to the much improved strategic positioning of the company with 100% owned Greenstone, a low cost open pit gold mine in a safe jurisdiction.

Equinox $eqx.to is consolidating Greenstone. I’ve avoided this stock because it’s a rollup with no synergies. Will take a fresh look. Bought deal financing at $5.30 for $260M. About 30% of current production is hedged.
