Historic Vids Photographed during low tide at 'Hidden Beach' in Monterey by Mike Shaw, California, this vibrant sea anemone was captured using a Canon 40D and a Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye Lens.
Sea anemones are fascinating creatures that belong to the phylum Cnidaria, which also includes
Blooms of huge compass jellyfish off the #isleofwight this week! Compass jellies are a visually spectacular species and iconic of the coastal seas of the NE Atlantic in early summer! Juvenile fish present amongst tentacles too! #marinebiodiversity #cnidaria
It's #MarineMonday and our Observation of the Day is this Dofleinia armata sea #anemone , seen in #Australia by thero-pod!

1/3 It feels weird to post about science at such hard times, but here we go:
Major update of Yael Admoni's preprint about miRNA-mRNA complementarity in Cnidaria: following some feedback we added experimental data from additional model species.

What are medusozoans anyway?
Medusa = jellyfish, or the swimming life stage present in the lineages of Medusozoa, a subphylum in Cnidaria! The jellyfish stage (typically) proceeds after the benthic polyp stage.
🎥 Sanderia polyps and young jellies (ephyrae)!

Many thanks Anne Helene Tandberg for (re)presenting the deep-sea research activities at the NaturalHistoryMuseum Universitetsmuseet @UiB during today's 'Bergen Bathysphere meeting'. And a massive thanks for featuring so nicely our work at the Cnidaria and Ctenophora Team. Artsdatabanken MarieSkłodowskaCurie
