#Seahares are hermaphrodites— they have both male and female reproductive organs. They form long mating chains, where an individual plays the role of a male to the individual in front of it, and the role of a female to the sea hare behind it! Video: Samuel John Spiders And The Sea

'Sea hare-lo to my little friend' 🌊🐇 #Seahares are a type of sea snail, with an internal shell, that get their name from their ear-like head tentacles! 🐰 They are known to form 'mating chains' where individuals will act as both the male and female! 👫 📷 Julie Hatcher

Sea hare! Wouldn't you rather be swimming in nice cool? #BeatTheHeat #SeaHares are often called shell-less #Snails, but they do have small internal shells. They swim by flapping the large, fleshy extensions of their mantles like wings. flowergarden.noaa.gov/vid/invertebra……

Watch your step! These #SeaHares can be found all over the Dike Rock #tidepools. While they stay fairly small in the intertidal zone, these critters can grow to up to 15 pounds once they move farther out into the ocean.

Saturday was #SeaSlugDay so for #MarineMonday here are some of the #seahares & #seaslugs you can find #rockpooling in #Guernsey How many species can you spot? 🔍🐌 #ScienceOnTheRock

#SeaSlugDay! I 💙 sea slugs #nudibranchs & #seahares. I'm a particular fan of psychedelic thieves like the Blue Sea Dragon who steal the stinging cells of their prey then use these kleptocnidae as defences against animals that want to prey on the sea slug. #ScienceOnTheRock

Field work is full of surprises! Our Research Team spotted dark brown masses on sediment off our dock. At first they thought this was drift #algae, but soon discovered it was a gathering of hundreds of Ragged #SeaHares (Bursatella leachii) #science #discovernature #gastropods
