Latest Rust update: Special Prosecutors subpoenaed Jason Bowles (Hannah Gutierrez’ atty) for his communications with Baldwin’s counsel. Bowles filed a Motion to Quash on the basis of atty client, joint defense, and common interest privilege.

RustTrialPile Endurance, persistence, psychological stability, & emotional intelligence count for much in these environments. One cannot deny elite schools - even better when accompanied by prestigious federal appellate clerkships - get a person in the door. From there, one has to produce.

This is a huge no no. Actual career prosecutors would know better. She ended up settling with the man for $25,000. Why aren’t more outlets reminding voters of this? It’s horrifying!

In other Rust related news…Judge Mary denied the State’s motion to file a supplemental response to Baldwin’s Motion to Dismiss. Spot on decision IMO seeing as how Morrissey didn’t follow the basic rules of motions practice.

Dan Abrams Idea! If the Columbia Law Review students end up all getting automatic passing grades as they’ve demanded they should be required to do a summer of OPLive ride alongs instead of cushy Summer Associate positions.

The authorities they cite refer to co-defendants who signed cooperation agreements with prosecution. Not already convicted co-defendants like Hannah. Their arguments are more applicable to Sarah Zachry if she has a JDA with Baldwin’s team.

Roger D Klein, MD JD This is such a good point. Reminds me of my occasional 100+ hour weeks in BigLaw. Many Ivy Leaguers couldn’t keep up. I went to a “lesser” school and ended up surviving three rounds of layoffs while some Ivy Leaguers got the boot.
