Nice Wilson’s Storm Petrel feeding next to a dead Pilot Whale that was being devoured by Blue Sharks! 40 odd miles Southwest of the Scillies. #rvcelticexplorer
This was my view from the crow’s nest on the #RVCelticExplorer . These pilot whales were tail slapping and spy hopping throughout the entire visual survey! This is the second day in a row we’ve witnessed these animals in such huge pod sizes. Absolutely amazing to watch😍
We arrived to the #Porcupine #Bank #Canyon early and dive 1 has started on the night shift! Now to retrieve our first #lander 🤞

Cracking first few days on the #RVCelticExplorer for the 2nd leg of #CSHAS2018 . Steady passage of #migrants with fieldfare, black redstart and chiffchaff to name a few.. 🐥 But the strangest sighting so far? Probably the grey heron circling above the ship 35 miles from land!
My station for the next 4 hours on #RVCelticExplorer mapping the seafloor on our deep sea exploration cruise #CE18012 The rest of our time is spent with the ROV #Holland1 and sorting deep sea samples with Prof Louise Allcock @[email protected] and Marine Institute

Fantastic first couple of days on #WESPAS2019 with a Great Skua stealing food off of a Gannet and a Fulmar. Great Skuas are known for kleptoparasitism but it was thrilling to see it up close and personal we also had juvenile Fin whales 😍 #Seabirds #Bonxie #MMO #RVCelticExplorer
