i remember when an rtd stan said that bc i watched big brother that my opinion shouldnt matter and its just rlly funny bc whos gonna tell them that the reason rtd1 dialogue is so good is bc rtd is a massive watcher of shows like big brother and he examines how real people speak

Lesley Sharp and David Tennant’s performances are what makes this a standout from RTD1. I’d love more isolated stories like ‘Midnight’ and ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ going forward pls thank you.

Jack Thursby It’s strange to me that in the RTD1 era he recreated the show fresh and modernised it - but - kept bringing back more and more elements and characters from the classic years. But - RTD2 seems to be a hard relaunch and far less connected to what’s gone before even with Bonnie etc.

It's not that the new companions don't make a choice. It's just that, having already seen RTD1, the audience knows the new companion's gonna say yes. So Moffat puts interesting, simple, character-motivated obstacles in their way.

Namely: couldn't, wouldn't, can't.

I wonder if Iplayer will do the same thing

Maybe a banner for the three specials and then series one next to it

Although if you’re watching in the UK you probably know the Doctor/Donna story due to RTD1’s lasting cultural significance

It’s important but not as much

nah fr dwtwt has an issue with treating poc characters negatively to borderline racism. ESPECIALLY THE RTD1 ERA. and we have to address that time and time again.

christian The 10/Donna was the closure of the 2005 era, though?

And to me it makes sense in that this whole era (Davies, Moffat, Chibnall) was RTD1, and now we're entering RTD2.

Kieran Johnson ♏ 5/10, I want to know how they came up with 'The Series 4 characters have gotta be running from... space... light'

8/10, this space aesthetic looks beautiful and they relied on nostalgia juuuuust enough (in my opinion) (as someone who isn't nostalgic for RTD1)

MrTARDIS Yeah I really don’t miss the whole throwaway companions thing from rtd1 but the way I think it’s gonna run is Millie has a reduced role in Series 15 and they start breaking Verada in. A little like how they did with Karen and Jenna in 7a

Bigfinishreviews Can't they just do a video on how RTD1 lifted basically everything from Shalka?
I feel like that doesn't get talked about enough.

i think s3 is the overall weakest season of rtd1 but grieving widower ten is fascinating and that is the main thing, and in some cases the only thing, the s4 specials have going for them

Regeneration itself is interesting enough. You don't have to add anything to it to make people keep watching. They just want good stories and not massive lore changes.

RTD1's time war storyline had consequences in terms of the Doctor's character even throughout Moffat's run.
