We love it when you send us your photos from the #ThamesBasinHeaths ๐Ÿ˜Š Here are Zhin & Alfie enjoying Hawley Common and noticing that the ground-nesting bird signs are still up. Nightjars are leaving for Africa next month & really appreciate #PawsOnPathsPlease a little longer!

Warden Jo chatted with a visitor at Chobham Common about Adders being shy & tricky to spot. A few minutes later she almost stepped on this one crossing the path! Following #PawsOnPathsPlease reduces the risk of dog and Adder encounters on the open heath ๐Ÿฆฎ๐Ÿ Explore Surrey's Countryside

We've been so focussed on Nightjars recently that we haven't chatted much about our #ThamesBasinHeaths Woodlarks! By now we'd hope that pairs are on to their second brood. Depending on egg/ chick survival, this could be replacement of a failed first nest. #PawsOnPathsPlease

Dogs just love to sniff! Particularly my dog, Henry, who probably spends 50% of his time seeking out interesting sniffs on a walk! Which is why I keep a close eye on him, on path when we are walking somewhere wildlife sensitive. ~Nicky #PawsOnPathsPlease #ThamesBasinHeaths

An important message from our colleagues at Thames Basin Heaths Partnership. Dogs don't know the difference between paths & adjacent open heath/grass habitat & sadly they canโ€™t read signs! But dog owners can help reduce disturbance to ground-nesting birds on the Special Protection Area by encouraging dogs to keep #PawsOnPathsPlease 1st Mar to 15th Sep.
