Edvard Grieg b otd 180 years ago! What a wonderful composer - so natural, so original, so warm, such a glorious sense of beauty. Also impressive that when, after his death, people could finally enter his sacrosanct composing hut, they found...lots of empty champagne bottles!

Happy 180th birthday Edvard #Grieg ! Our Scottish-Norwegian friendships are as fun & fresh today as ever! 🏴 + 🇳🇴 = 🎶
My favorite Grieg work is his five movement, neoclassical 'Holberg Suite.' Originally a piano piece, it was written in 1884 to mark the 200th birthday of Ludvig Holberg, a Danish-Norwegian humanist playwright. Grieg made the better-known transcription for strings a year later.
Edvard Grieg's music is always Romantic but never sentimental, and his adventurous rhythms and daring harmonies can often be traced to the influence of Norwegian folk music. Celebrate his birthday by listening to his great recordings. 🎧 ➞ dgt.link/grieg-grtrec

'Sinos do Inferno' (Hell's Bells, 1929) youtu.be/g3mgdeuEOio
Happy birthday to Edvard Grieg, who is best known for composing the music to Peer Gynt. His home is known as Troldhaugen or 'Troll Hill.' Grieg had a passion for Norwegian folklore. (art by John Bauer & James Mayhew)
He lived in Troldhaugen, Bergen. What a setting for his hut where he did his composing. These pictures also show the house and the Concert Hall in the grounds which was built in his honour
