“Promoting tissue healing and regeneration using peptide-modified glycosaminoglycans”
Galactosylated N-glycans may act as decoy receptors for human papillomavirus (HPV), blocking the interaction of HPV to myosin-9. This is in addition to the role for glycosaminoglycans. Various glycomutant CHO lines (677, 745, Lec1, Lec2) used. #glycotime

(5/n) Next, we look into something more complicated... Glycosaminoglycans (a.k.a. #GAGs )!
We are soooo excited to be able to locate the N-acetyls and the sulfates! 🥳
Can't wait to use STM imaging to sequence the sulfate codes of *real* GAGs! 🔥(my #HFSP project with Copenhagen Center for Glycomics)
Bone broth (homemade)
Glycosaminoglycans are highly polar molecules and attract water; the body uses them as lubricants or shock absorbers.

Very exciting week for the Weiss Lab! We officially received the NoA for our NIGMS R35 MIRA! Funding til 2028 to investigate the regulation of glycosaminoglycans. Also, so proud of PhD students, Neil Patel & Xiaolin, on passing their qualifying exams this past week! #glycotime

lysosomal storage disorder
iduronate 2-sulfatase enzyme (IDS) deficiency
X-linked recessive disorder
Iduronate 2-sulfatase (IDS) is responsible for the breakdown of large sugar molecules called glycosaminoglycans.
