It worked! Analysis of data obtained over the past two weeks by our investigation team shows the spacecraft's kinetic impact with its target asteroid successfully made a small change to the asteroid’s orbit. See what we're learning so far: go.nasa.gov/3elYJn5

NASA has confirmed that the smaller asteroid's orbit is now 11 hrs 23 mins, down from 11 hrs 55 min.

This is what it's like to crash into an asteroid at 22,500 kilometres per hour.

The video, from the , is at 10 times speed—except for the final six frames, which are in real time.

The spacecraft travelled 6 km between each of those last few frames.

This just in: The impact is confirmed to have changed the orbit of moonlet Dimorphos around its asteroid Didymos.

For the first time ever, humans changed the motion of a celestial object. More details: go.nasa.gov/3g2C5kp
