It's beginning to sound to me as if almost the entire body of federal Indian law hinges on Gorsuch's ability to argue to his fellow conservative justices that upholding #ICWA is the correct, originalist position. #BrackeenvHaaland

Thinking about #ICWA and #BrackeenvHaaland this morning as I got the boys ready for school this morning. What a privilege it is to raise native kids through native eyes. ICWA is premised on the rights of a child to be raised by his people, his Tribe. It is irreplaceable.

This is why #ICWA , as weak as it is, is necessary - aside from #brackeenvhaaland being a stealth attempt to erode #tribalsovereignty more broadly and open tribal lands to further colonial exploitation.

Am i surprised that #southdakota rejected #sb191 of course not. Its complete racist bullsh!t and trying to keep taking the children, and with #brackeenvhaaland being decided this summer makes thing even scarier.
