The #BCWildfire Service will be assisting the Coldwater Indian Band and the Coldwater Fire Department in conducting a prescribed burn project approximately 7.5 kilometres southwest of #Merritt .

The BC Wildfire Service will be assisting with the completion of the prescribed burn project with the Lower Nicola Indian Band and Lower Nicola Fire Department. The project initially started last week and continued into the weekend.

In British Columbia, there are four types of open burning: Category 1 campfire, Category 2 open fire, Category 3 open fire and Category 4 resource management open fire.

Burning may begin as early as April 17, 2024, and may continue periodically until April 20, 2024.
