Alisa Valdes, Novelist Mine did too…moved us to a new state and then they left the state for weeks at a time…checked in by phone or via their secretary sometimes 🙄Crazy. I got fed up & left at 16yrs then took custody of my brother & moved him when I turned 18. I took them to court for child support.

Punished 0wen Alisa Valdes, Novelist No, from my original reply above “I gained custody once I turned 18”. However, I was legally emancipated at age 16 (via the court) which did give me “legal adult status”- could then enroll in school, sign a lease, etc. lol… I had to file a tax return too.😅
