South Dakota has detected #H5N1 #flu in dairy cows. That makes the 8th state. Dept. of Agriculture says there've been 24 infected herds reported overall, up 4 from yesterday.
Texas (10), NM (5), Kansas (3), Mich (2), Idaho, Ohio, NC & SD (1 apiece).
Wish more info was being released.

Then there were 7: NC joins the list of states that have reported detecting #H5N1 #birdflu in dairy cows. Though the Dept. of Agriculture website hasn't been updated yet to reflect this addition, this makes 21 affected herds in 7 states. h/t ProMED. ncagr.gov/news/press-rel…

Number of states with #H5N1 in dairy cattle grows to 5 as Ohio confirms first cases.

Most interestingly, the farm in Ohio received cows from a farm in Texas on March 8th. That source farm in Texas later tested positive for H5N1.
