Staying on the raptor theme - probably my top highlight from Tunisia in early April was outrageous views of this pale-morph Atlas long-legged buzzard (B.r. cirtensis) which landed by the car on the approach road to Lake Ichkeul.

The black kite spent much of yesterday afternoon following a tractor ploughing fields behind Kitty Down, regularly passing over my work nearby to have a good look at what I was up to!

An exceptional few days for raptors continued y’day as a BLACK KITE arrived on St. Mary’s. The Montagu’s harrier toured again, & the adult purple heron clung on to life, just. Golden orioles, woodchats, & Richard’s pipit remain, & a stone curlew was new on St. Agnes #ScillyBirds

The settled weekend weather gave way to a big westerly front today, and the ocean provided! A group rummaging session yielded five Columbus crabs and six(!) Fiona pinnata - only the second recorded occurrence of this rare pelagic nudibranch on Scilly! #oceandrifters

Exceptional arrival across Scilly over the last 24 hours - pallid swift, night herons, purple herons, R-r swallow, woodchat shrike, hen harrier, R-n duck & 7+ golden orioles!! As always, I couldn’t see it all, but after seeing this scene below, little else mattered! #ScillyBirds
