LEV1 was built in 1975 based on a Leyland bus design to reduce operational costs on selected services. It has been on loan to the Wensleydale Railway and has just undergone a major cosmetic overhaul before being returned to National Railway Museum

There’s niche …….. and there’s niche!!

There will be a free entry open day tomorrow (Saturday 20th) at the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust’s Darlington Works, 10am to 3pm. We are on Bonomi Way, DL3 0PY. Main gate will be signposted.

The eagle eyed will have spotted that Jubilee Galatea, aka 45627 SIERRA LEONE, now has the correct cabside numerals!

This is emphatically wrong. In a UK context our Olympians have got to where they are on the back of taxpayers subsidies to support their training. If gold medal winners accept this bribe then they should immediately pay it back to the Treasury.

We much enjoyed the Prime Minister’s visit today. He listened intently to all who spoke to him and we appreciated him taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our new works.

Today is the 54th anniversary of the formation of The Queen’s Lancashire Regiment, an amalgamation of The Loyal Regiment and The Lancashire Regiment (PWV). Colours were presented at Dover Castle by Field Marshal Sir Gerald Templar. Motto: Loyally We Serve. Indeed we did.
