99% of the stuff I used to drive a car to carry I can put on my totally normal-ass bike.

Bikes work for so many trips as long as:
1. The destinations are close
2. The riding is safe
3. Bike parking is available nearby

In today's The Atlantic Daily, I hope that we will not overlook that Donald Trump wanted a politicized military, with generals as loyal as he imagined Nazi officers to be. He was (as usual) stupid and wrong.

Also: Hello, fellow Star Trek nerds.

Donald Trump has a copy of the search warrant. He’d show us the warrant if he were so wronged. Show it or shut it.

Anyhow, keep doing what you do realNickKouvalis: working to elect bad people who govern badly. Keep making tomorrow’s world a little worse for most of us. I’m sure you’re paid well for it. And thanks for following.

I bet SmartTrack polled well.
Because it was a lie.
A fiction down to the last detail - stations, service, years to deliver.
You can throw a lot of popular ideas out there if you have no compunction about lying.
False promises sell. Always have.

It’s REALLY important that ’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally AGAINST downtown bike-lanes, have become one of their most vigourous supporters, because of EVIDENCE that bike-lanes are better for downtown business than any street parking they replace.

It’s extremely rare in ANY city for someone with Gil Penalosa #Cities4Everyone’s decades of global city-building experience and remarkable track-record inspiring & transforming cities to run for Mayor.

Extremely rare.

It should completely transform the Toronto Mayoral campaign.

New from Alayna Treene: Several possible 2024 Republican presidential candidates tell Axios they support former President Trump's plan to make it much easier to fire career civil servants. There’s a good chance Schedule F lives under another GOP potus.

𝚂𝚎á𝚗 𝙾’𝚂𝚑𝚎𝚊 Global News There’s a prevailing narrative that people in cars are doing necessary things and shouldn’t be delayed or inconvenienced, while people walking or biking are just out for recreation and aren’t important. Lots of people walk to work, bike to buy groceries, TTC to medical appts.

55%+ of households in DT Toronto don't even own a car (30% over-all).

People aren't all out walking (& cycling) for fun, they also have (important) places to go & things to do.

Having a car doesn't make one's time/convenience more important than someone who walks/cycles.

Met a guy on RAGBRAI who has such bad arthritis in one knee, he can barely walk.

On a bike, he is a randonneur, regularly riding hundreds of miles at amazingly fast speeds.

Bikes can be for all abilities.

Thank you to all the people who explained to me, a disabled person who doesn't drive a car, that disabled people need cars, beautifully illustrating the exact thing I said I was tired of.

Consider: any such necessity is as much a product of car culture as anything else.

Concord. Tale of two (identical) lots. Same height, same width, same depth. Four solid rental units on the left; one or perhaps two if there’s a secondary suite on the right. What’s wrong with this picture? Nothing.
