UK-covid-opinion 💙 🗿 🇺🇦 Dr Linda Dykes @[email protected] The replacement of experienced decision makers is a false economy. Ultimately it will cost so much more in unnecessary admissions / investigations/ referrals and in litigation costs.

After reading through the safeguarding level 3 course materials I can only conclude that the NHS is a wilful participant in the neglect of children.

This system is utter bollocks, disjointed, and kafkaesque.

Any clinician able to actually attend meetings is a miracle worker

Happy Christmas all

But, can't help but reflect on this

If Jesus was born today, he’d be born under the rubble

World is dark & getting darker but Christmas tells us of a great light who did not run away from darkness but overcame it for all John 1 v5

People often talk about the time critical nature of sepsis. But it may surprise you to hear that the evidence to support “early” antibiotics actually isn't a settled debate. Why is that? The key question is “early in relation to what”? 🧵1/n

I rarely post personal stuff but I really need some help please. Yesterday afternoon, we came home as masked burglars were leaving our home. They stole lots of things of huge sentimental value; jewellery that belonged to parents & grandparents, my late Dad’s watch, papers… /2

Seeing a lot of these today.

Just here to say, solidarity with the folk that are thinking “survived/got through it”.

That in itself is massive.

One of my favourite winter poems by Laurie Lee

No night could be darker than this night,
No cold so cold,
As the blood snaps like a wire,
And the heart's sap stills,
And the year seems defeated.

O never again, it seems, can green things run,
Or sky birds fly,

Tim Ricketts That patients die, and if there is doubt about whether they might be dying or not, it is still reasonable to manage symptoms they have, even if that needs a syringe driver- they can be stopped as well as started.

Ian Birrell Thank you for writing it. It’s so important that people see this ‘other’ side to the debate - which is intrinsically imbalanced as those who are most at risk of harm from Assisted Dying legalisation are, by definition, less able to (go on the Today programme to) talk about it…

Thanks Sacha.
Most people I see in hospital are not actively dying. All and their families are facing uncertainty, often profound. Are nearly always more symptomatic than thought.
Ask the right questions; find out what matters to the person hiding behind the ill patient.

They are such a good resource. A shining light amongst the wreckage of the last few years in the NHS.
