The geomagnetic storm of the 10th-11th was one of the top 20 'Great Storms' over the last 500 years which is defined as naked-eye aurora being seen <30° magnetic latitude. It was seen to the naked eye as far south as New Caledonia which had not seen visual aurora since 1859.
