Today’s police response to peaceful student demonstrations at the ⁦University of Alberta⁩ is disproportionate force.

Its disturbing to see Alberta’s first university, & one of the Canada’s leading post-secondary institutions to abandon students free speech & peaceful demonstrations.

Like other attacks on our democracy, this is a distressing erosion of Alberta students’ rights.

In this increasingly conflict-ridden world, we call for an end to violent reactions in response to legitimate and Charter-protected peaceful protests.

This morning Edmonton Police violently swept the University of Alberta student encampment. I’m waking to horrific video. At least 2 arrests.

In QP, I looked up and saw a family of 4 in the front row of the public gallery in the Legislature. The two children were visibly disabled and excited to be there. Was nice to have them visit.

UCP Finance Minister insulted an ND member suggesting he was “slow”.
