Great to see our @BangorSNS research with Dr Craig Shuttleworth showcased at #BES2022. Thank you Graeme Shannon for presenting. Hopefully the method we tested will be useful to #conservation practitioners for #monitoring #redsquirrel
One of the (many) great things about teaching conservation Bangor University is having BTO Cymru sharing space and working so closely with us. Today the CEO of BTO juliet vickery did a fantastic talk to our students about citizen science and bird conservation.
Important work on one of several understudied #Caribbean endemics which risk being wiped to #extinction at every hurricane. Well done @David_JPereira, Matthew Geary & colleagues at UEA CEEC , but more attention & research on this and similar species is urgently needed. Bahamas National Trust
Today was my last day at @BangorSNS & I have been overwhelmed by the love & appreciation shown by so many colleagues. Thank you, thank you, thank you ☺️. I will miss you but hope to keep collaborating with you as part of my new role as an Honorary Lecturer at Bangor University
Congrats Will Justus, very well deserved! It was a pleasure to so-supervise you in this novel and exciting project @BangorSNS with Graeme Shannon and Owain Barton
Thought-provoking paper by Tom Martin et al. sparked an interesting discussion in Animal Conservation. How should we assess and plan for 100s of 'lost species' ? Responding to Re:wild & Jon Paul Rodríguez authors propose creating a IUCN Species Survival Commission specialist group. 👍💡 doi.org/10.1111/acv.12…
Our new paper on anthropocene island bird diversity-area relationships, led by Tom Matthews, was just published in Ecology Letters. Very pleased to help with this one, which shows changing patterns in 51 archipelagos as species go extinct, or are introduced: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
To Species_Monitoring abundance is one of the cornerstones of species #conservation status e.g. #iucnredlist, yet it's hard work & often overlooked. Our new paper in Néo with Graeme Shannon at @BangorSNS & Dr Craig Shuttleworth tests #cameratraps as a way to monitor #redsquirrel
Timber harvesting and squirrels. Latest study with Graeme Shannon Simon Valle showed red squirrel abundance is negatively affected by tree canopy fragmentation in commercial conifer plantation. #redsquirrelawarenessweek
Our latest research effort, @BangorSNS, masterfully led by Will Justus with Graeme Shannon Owain Barton Amy Gresham looks at bovine TB transmission risk in European wildlife. 🦌🦊🦡🐗 Mammal Society
Great to see @David_PearTree 's (with Matthew Geary , Nigel Collar et al.) work showcased by Wilson Ornith Soc . An important piece of work on a species in desperate need of conservation attention (!!)

We’re excited to share a new study that reviews bovine TB prevalence in European wildlife and investigates what role four species may play in wildlife disease transmission! Authors: Will Justus, Simon Valle, Owain Barton, Amy Gresham, Graeme Shannon buff.ly/44W6CW7
