A Porphyrin Iron(III) pi-Dication Species and its Relevance in Catalyst Design for the Umpolung of Nucleophiles (Johannes E. M. N. Klein and co-workers) Silène Engbers, Alex Guo, Klein Lab, Stratingh Institute for Chemistry, CMU Chemistry #openaccess onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/an…
Our work on a porphyrin iron(III) pi-dication and it’s relevance in catalyst design for the umpolung of nucleophiles is now out in Angewandte Chemie 🥳 Alex Guo Klein Lab Stratingh Institute for Chemistry doi.org/10.1002/anie.2…
Very happy to see this work online!
We have unraveled the mechanism of nitrite reduction using my favorite bio-inspired copper complex, Cu(tmpa). With the great work of Silène Engbers who contributed so much to this project! Dennis Hetterscheid ACS Catalysis pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
The manuscript “Elucidation of the Electrocatalytic Nitrite Reduction Mechanism by Bio-Inspired Copper Complexes” by Phebe Van Langevelde and Silène Engbers is out in ACS Catalysis. How the mechanism of a simple one electron reaction can still be very complex: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
Great day away from the lab with the groups in building 18 (Remco Havenith, Tibor Kudernac, Robert Pollice and Klein Lab). Including a walk on the seabed at low tide in the Wadden Sea, followed by BBQ on the boat.
Had a great time at the Centre for Pulse EPR Spectroscopy (PEPR) symposium earlier this week learning about the vast range of uses for EPR spectroscopy 🙂 as an added bonus it was lovely to have our work on the characterization of an iron(III) pi-dication be so well received
