OFSTED don't create happy, healthy children. They don't create opportunities in the arts. They don't create funded SEND places. End the obsession with OFSTED judgements. Scrap OFSTED.

The deliberate underfunding of our NHS over the last 14 years has pushed our NHS to breaking point. I will be doing what I can to push press the new Government to commit to solutions, which should not be sticking plasters which outsource services to the private sector.

Half of claimants ran out of food within the last month. This is the state of poverty in the UK but we could do so much better. The Labour Govt urgently needs to increase Universal Credit and scrap the two child benefit cap. Why isn’t it? bigissue.com/news/social-ju…

“The system isn’t broken it was built this way.” My love and respect to everyone who survived Grenfell and the relatives and friends of those who died for getting through this long seven years. I’ll keep pushing the Govt to fix the wider, systemic issues of power that led here.💚

Today the planning committee in Brighton and Hove is considering the huge plans for a Royal Mail depot in Patcham. Residents are speaking up about the gaps in information and the risks to road danger, water pollution and flooding that have not been fully admitted. Follow here:

The length of time it has taken to get this far after the horrific disaster and lives lost at Grenfell is patently unjust. There has been disgraceful buck-passing and Government must act now to short circuit this and make sure people can go to bed at night knowing they are safe.

We cannot separate the economy and climate change. Today I tabled an amendment to the Budget Responsibility Bill that would require the OBR to consider the impact of fiscally significant Government decisions on its statutory net zero target.

Enforcing planning conditions is a nightmare for everyone affected in my experience of large developments. The risks of this plan for road danger, water pollution and flooding are high and I’m disappointed the committee chose to accept them today. I’ll keep supporting residents.

A start, but any profits from bills we pay must be invested back into our infrastructure, not into the profits of shareholders. Water companies must be run for the public, not private shareholders in any way.

I was pleased to back the Great British Energy Bill today. For it to have a game-changing impact we need more ambition - including on moving away from fossil fuels, supporting community renewables and restoring nature.
