Dan King This was taken from the top of the pilgrim monument, but often you can’t even see the other shore. Today was so clear you could easily see the other shore. Plymouth should be somerwhere in this pic

Dan King Interesting. Tho I can't help but chuckle at 'self reported perception thereof' - All I can think of is this ('Go' is coincidental!)

We're hiring a new team lead for Hail - apply here: broadinstitute.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/broad_institut… - Hail is the compute engine that powers Genome Aggregation Database and genebass.org. A fond farewell to the amazing Dan King for all his hard work to continue to scale hail!

Dan King So, devs need to migrate from Google Life Sciences to Google Batch. This is hardly the first time this has happened (remember JES, PAPI, PAPIv2?). Additionally, I think dev groups knew this was coming.

Dan King Hail I was just following some of your notebooks the other day to run some Hail analysis on Google Cloud - thanks for all of your hard work, I love the tools you and the rest of the Hail team have put out!

Dan King As mentioned, WDL support will be coming very soon to Batch. Batch also supports various workflow engines such as Nextflow, Redun, TorchX, and Covalent at the moment. The migration path to Batch will simply be a few parameters so nothing will be lost.

Dan King Although Life Sciences will be shut down, all of its functionality and more will be covered by Google Cloud's Batch product. Batch will provide a more comprehensive feature set to deliver improved workload flexibility and cost optimizations.

Dan King Β» teej The intuitiveness appraisal assumes an imperative-first mindset. Coming from a different background I can see where the declarative approach* would make more sense.

*which, by the way, is common to SQL and Polars and dplyr.
