Apollo 14/STS-4 is the last Apollo mission and final test of the Shuttle. Any target could have proven Shuttle's rendezvous capabilities, but enough pieces were leftover to build Apollo 14, and the symbolism of the past and future of spaceflight meeting was too great to pass up.
