My workplace had a sickness policy with regular meetings depending on level of sickness. I became so worried about not being absent due to my health issues I made myself more ill. It is totally demoralising and makes me wonder why I'm even here.

Daughter referred by GP for adhd assessment. Had to complete questionnaire for this. Cahms processed referral to assessor - had to complete questionnaire. Now got questionnaire from assessor to decide if be assessed!! #adhd

I’ve left many jobs over time because they couldn’t understand my struggles and provide adjustments!

If you understand brain science & what it does to resolve trauma,we are punishing traumatised young people & wondering why it isn't getting better. Lots of systems are shame based,behaviour focussed & default to that punitive aspect.
What they really need is support. 🧠🌱

GP referred daughter to cahms for adhd assessment. Cahms sat on referral for a year planning to give us appointment. Now decided to make referral. I have 3 weeks to return assessment paperwork otherwise discharged!!

Yet again the government is failing to also recognise the problems of employers not wanting to make reasonable adjustments for employees. I worked somewhere - broken chairs/desks - but told no money in budget to replace them. There was!

A young persons chronological age is their age based on their date of birth.

Their developmental age is the age at which they function emotionally, physically, cognitively,& socially.

The best therapeutic interventions meet the young person at their developmental level.🧠🌱

Is it any wonder I worry for the future of our autistic adhd daughter and whether people will understand her. School let her down, professionals let her down. I educate myself on a daily basis so I don’t let her down. But she struggles daily.

I've struggled all through my working life. Diagnosed age 47 as autistic. Now I understand why I struggled. It wasn't a simple answer. Also referred for ADHD assessment. My brain works differently. It struggles in neurotypical environments. It's all about the root cause.

An education should increase a child's love of learning, not diminish it.

The average education, unfortunately, does the latter.

Our young people need support in life, so they are better able to cope, regulate their emotions & build stronger & more positive relationships. Create a school environment that sets these things. All of our young people need someone in their corner.🧠🌱
