Overcrowding should be addressed by a safe and planned reduction of the prison population, rather than prison expansion.

The Ombudsman for Children report reveals:

🔴40% of complaints related to education
🔴78% of children experienced MH difficulties

We are excited that Kerry McCarthy will be presenting a Ten Minute Rule Bill on parental imprisonment today.

The motion calls for it to be a statutory requirement to identify and support children with a parent in prison.

The HSE recruitment embargo must be lifted for all mental health service posts. MH services are underfunded, and have not been subject to over-recruitment (if only!). The C&V sector also needs an injection of funding as it works to support the YP waiting.
