the funniest part about this guy is that he worked on “building” hyperloop, a literal scam technology that has never actually moved a single human being faster than a train

The truth is that the government itself creates housing shortages, and these laws - minimum lot size, restrictive covenants, maximum # of occupants, bans on apartments, have their roots in post Jim Crow America.

it’s so funny how people from New Jersey think that most tourists to Manhattan are driving into the city

just completely divorced from reality

how many times do I need to tell Jersey politicians: stop fighting against congestion pricing and just take the train

the fascinating thing about both NIMBYism and car culture is that even though both completely dominate American planning, so many people act like it’s oppression whenever a couple apartment buildings or bike lanes are built

it’s honestly mind blowing why anyone would drive to work at city hall in lower Manhattan.

that area has some of the worst traffic in the country and over a dozen subway lines!

And I call on Long Island Republicans to take the train.

and maybe build some walkable housing while you’re at it

When I lived in Los Angeles, I had to completely construct my life around traffic and driving. I didn’t leave the office until 8PM when traffic died down.

Now that I live in New York, I can pretty easily get anywhere in the city at any time of the day thanks to the subway

nothing better demonstrates how absurd & inefficient car culture is than the suburban school dropoff line

one fascinating thing about the congestion pricing discourse is that it reveals how many Americans are truly incapable of conceiving a transit-oriented city

the idea that “poor people won’t be able to get to work” is laughable when you realize how many transit options NYC has

it’s fascinating how so many people are incapable of understanding that you can very easily avoid the congestion charge by simply not driving in lower Manhattan, which has an abundance of transit options

the housing crisis is viewed as an expensive problem requiring billions in funding to fix…

even though just legalizing denser housing would *raise* a ton of revenue that can be used to improve govt services like transit, schools and even subsidized housing for those who need it

one of the biggest problems in New York is that there’s not enough enforcement of traffic laws so you end up like situations like this where a single scofflaw can slow down thousands of people’s commute with no consequences

Cars move just 24% of Manhattan's people but generate 100% of its traffic congestion. NYC has a generational opportunity to invest in better transit service and reimagined streets for the 75% of people who rely on bus, train, bike and walking. The time is now.

josh Gottheimer blocked me but I will still tell him to take the train or bus (like most of his constituents do) instead of complaining about congestion pricing
