Our #ConservationWin was when we went through all our packaging objects to remove the food contained in them.
Apart from this one. This one we missed.

‘Own Label: Sainsbury’s Design Studio: 1962 – 1977’ gives you a unique insight into what and how we ate, the packaging is presented using both scanned original flat packets and photographic records made at the time by the design team. counter-print.co.uk/products/own-l…

Don't talk to me about white gloves!! Read this article from Museum of London which explains why archivists/conservators/curators don't use them.

Here's #somethingbig for #Archive30 . It's the wooden screen from the branch at 142/144 Kenton Road. When the branch shut in 1973 it was moved to Sainsbury's head office in Blackfriars. Then, when the archive moved to Museum of London Docklands in 2005, of course it came with us!
For #ArchiveBuildings I thought we could talk about 'House Style'. Sainsbury's counter service branches all followed the same design. Long marble counter tops, mahogany screen and Mintons tiles.

Sainsbury Archive Hannah #GTTO 🇵🇸 Still there. I hope the rest of it was just covered up and not ripped out. The lady in the office, who let me take the photo, said there's still a meat larder in the basement. Full of files and paperwork now.

In 1998 one of the #HiddenHistories of our branches was revealed when an estate agent, renovating their business, discovered a fully complete store - which even included the wooden screen.

One of my favourite parts of our #ArchiveCollection , is the images taken by photographer Brian Shuel. Between the 1960-80s Brian helped design layouts, and shot photographs of all aspects of the company for the staff magazine, 'J.S Journal'.

Here is 'Shopping Day: a 24-hour look at J. Sainsbury' film for #SoundAndVision for #Archive30 . It was a corporate film, showing various activities of the company in a day in 1963

We've picked the launch of TU as one of our #MiniMilestones for #Archive30 . Tu was launched 20 years ago in September 2004 in 160 stores.
It wouldn't be a #TypicalDay without someone telling me our exhibition space is haunted (ghosts usually seen around the green boat at the end of the video)

#SomethingNew for #Archive30 today is another version of this packet of Oxtail soup. And we mean new meaning newly accessioned. Definitely not new new.
