Help! Looking for a story I heard once about a scientist ~100 yrs ago who reported something basic (an atomic mass?) wrong by 10% and it took years to correct because he was a big cheese, so people successively hedged their reporting of their (correct) lower measurements.

I'm interested to learn whether attendance at the World Conference on Research Integrity is good for anything other than networking. To me it looks like mostly pabulum from administrators ('fraud is bad, m'kay') in a succession of agreeable locations.

I find it slightly reassuring that even Amazon has not been able to standardise whether a website should refer to a user in the first or second person.
