If you want an easy life, don't be a filmmaker. It really is as simple of that. The idea vs the reality will slap you hard. Do not underestimate the level of dedication you have to have, and the amount of uncomfortable conversations you have to start (and finish) with people.

On the flip side of my current dive back into weird 70s stuff - Robin Redbreast still remains one of the best of the bunch. I jumped in on Sunday & it did not disappoint 2nd time around (better than the first). Its disquieting simplicity ticks all the folk horror boxes perfectly.

Got around to watching 'Casting The Runes' (1979) yesterday. Probably the weakest out of all the LGC 'M.R. James Ghost Story' adaptations. Too much exposition, not enough visual action. But with that said I have to give credit for his in-camera methods of spooky story telling 🤌

Here's a hot take from me. I've just finished watching #MidnightMass and it's left me with this notion - Mike Flanagan is someone I would be happy to see adapt a Lovecraft story. I honestly can't think of another director (bar John Carpenter) who could take it on, with respect.
