It's stunning
that a system
(that we could change
if we wanted to)
that is taking us – & all life –
off a cliff
through destruction
to the things
we need to survive
– water/food/safety/biodiversity –
*still* gets called
'the best system' &
'the only option'
by many.

What
a
drug.

POWERFUL. At a recent concert, Macklemore spoke about how art in its purest form is resistance.

'I look at my own kids & my own family and think if I was in Palestine right now...what would I want the rest of the world to be doing?'

Clearly his intentions with Hind's Hall.✊🏽

It’s also time to get very serious about climate adaptation, because this civilisation is already deep in the post-1.5 danger zone, already sliding down a cliff!
Please RT to agree.

Well done climate scientists for knowing the literature (or was this just luck?).

Journalists? Are you not reporting on the literature & listening too much to the handfull of 1.5°C optimists?

'As environmental, social and humanitarian crises escalate, the world can no longer afford two things: first, the costs of economic inequality; and second, the rich.'

The is causing
profound damage to lives/livelihoods globally
& despairing climate scientists are saying,
“This is just the beginning: buckle up.”

Yet techno-optimists
say no need to change
our capitalist system.

Why they are wrong.👇

Now is a great time to think through what you’d need/want to have to be prepared if your community gets hit with an extreme weather event, and get to work on getting ready.
Great list at Ready.gov

'EU member states and other high-income countries should shift subsidies from emissions-heavy 'wasteful' foods like red meat towards greener fruit and veg, according to the World Bank.'

Hind Rajab's mom on Columbia students naming Hind's Hall:
'I started crying because I wanted all of these movements & support to come while Hind was still alive.'
Hopes protests don't stop till permanent ceasefire.
'Wake up now! Why are others like Hind still going through this?'

There -has- to be a better way to expand - like covering parking lots, which offers shade, proximity to demand, efficient use of space, and doesn't needlessly destroy wild landscapes.

The transportation portion of climate-changing emissions has grown by 54% since 1990, in part because people have been driving more and buying big pick-up trucks and SUVs. SHIFTING TO EVs IS NOT ENOUGH. Car dependency is the deeper problem. Via @ParisMarx

Renting instead of buying tools, toys and clothes doesn't just save money - it can hugely reduce the environmental costs of making (and throwing away) so much stuff

Exciting to see the 'library of things' concept growing so fast

If someone values money & works to collect & protect it, mainstream society celebrates them & calls them 'successful.'

If someone values nature – which we need to SURVIVE – & warns that fossil fuels & business as usual are killing it, they are mostly ignored.

Regret is coming.
