We must not live in the world of books, but in the world of real people.

Yet all that is worth saying to them of lasting value comes from books.

Can we really know in advance where we’re going when we die? The apostle John said in one of his letters, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). epm.org/resources/2010…

“The nearer we come to God, the more graciously will He reveal Himself to us…Come then, let us draw near to God who so graciously awaits us; indeed, comes to meet us. Let the main point of our lives be to get near to God. This done, all is done.” – Charles Spurgeon

“Lord, on this happy May Day, lead me out into your tuneful world as rich in praise as a lark in full song.” – Charles Spurgeon

Three actions when it comes to the antisemitic campus radicals:

- Speak out the evil
- Pray for changed hearts by the gospel being preached by churches and campus ministries
- Rejoice at the fervent joy for the Lord evident among so many college students around the country

God is the holiest being in the universe. We could easily conclude that God would be more prone to hold our offenses against us. Yet the opposite is true. Who else will forgive us of everything, absolutely and every time—even when we’ve deeply hurt them? ref.ly/1J1.9

While he surely preferred abundance and plenty to hunger and need, Paul chose not to focus on his own wants. His contentment was in Christ (see Philippians 4:13). When our contentment is in Christ, it’s as durable as He is dependable.

What will it be like on our resurrection day, when we return with Christ to this old Earth, when we are given new bodies in the knowledge that we will together colonize a New Earth? In my novel Safely Home, I tried to catch a flavor of what it may be like. epm.org/resources/2024…

During her cancer years, Nanci had a big view of God and a truly eternal perspective. God ministered to me through her every day. She often shared with me what she meditated on, including this verse: “Yahweh is your keeper; Yahweh is your shade on your right hand” (Psalm 121:5).

As Christ followers, we should be loved for the right things, and hated by the world for the right things. “For we are the aroma of Christ… to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life” (2 Corinthians 2:15-16, ESV).

Having faith doesn’t mean being unreasonable or blind. As Sean McDowell explains, God has given us evidence for a rational faith and has made Himself known—for those who are willing to see. epm.org/resources/2024…

In an age when people try to make doctrines more appealing by twisting biblical truth, here’s the irony — the true biblical doctrine of Heaven is far more attractive than the dull, inhuman view of the afterlife that has long prevailed in evangelicalism. epm.org/resources/2021…

“Your relationship with God must be your definition of the good life. He must be the end that we hunger for rather than the means to the end that we crave.” Paul David Tripp

We can think of our lives in terms of a dot and a line, signifying two phases. Our present life on Earth is the dot. It begins. It ends. It’s brief. However, from the dot, a line extends that goes on forever. epm.org/resources/2024…

The Apostle Paul says, “In this hope we were saved” (Romans 8:24). What hope? The words of the previous verse tell us: “the redemption of our bodies” (v. 23). That’s the final resurrection, when death will be swallowed up and sin will be reversed, never again to touch us.

There’s a common saying: “God won’t give you more than you can handle” or “…more than you can bear.” Certainly, God gives us things which we can’t handle by ourselves. But He also promises that He is sufficient and able to sustain and strengthen us. epm.org/resources/2024…
