For Literary Hub, Huda Fakhreddine هدى فخر الدين and I wrote a few words about Mohammad Saleh, a young poet who was killed in Gaza in Oct.
If you find yourself at a protest this week, consider reading aloud this beautiful love poem.
Keep Mohammad’s work and memory alive.

In 1969, Black and Puertorican students shut down City College of NY for 17 days. They protested the school's racist admissions policies, and the settler colonialism of its Harlem campus. Tonight, we put our Gaza solidarity encampment within the context of their rebellion.
On May 7 in NYC, I'll be reading with many of the other authors who withdrew from PEN America awards and PEN festival spots in solidarity with Palestine. We are raising funds for We Are Not Numbers, a youth-led nonprofit in Gaza that shares Palestinian stories. See you there!
Refaat’s first grandchild, the infant boy he didn’t get the chance to meet, will never look to the sky for a kite again.

We are thrilled to bring you a look at the new cover art for SUMŪD: A New Palestinian Reader! Originally announced back in March, SUMŪD is an anthology of work from The Markaz Review مجلة المركز, celebrating Palestinian resistance through art, essays, memoir, and poetry.
See you on May 7 in NYC to raise $ for We Are Not Numbers via Palestine Festival of Literature. I'll be joining other authors who've refused @PENAmerica award noms & World Voices Festival spots to protest PEN's failure to 'stand at the intersection of literature & human rights to protect open expression.'
