Just got a text from a friend.

For his birthday, he said he wanted to have friends over to watch the original 1933 King Kong, so that’s what we’re doing.

My son is 12 today. The first pic is from our first Father’s Day. The second is from when he was 9. I beat him 19 times straight at Bounce Battle and made him cry. More recently, we’ve been skiing together. Happy Birthday, little buddy!

That’s literally how I describe it to my kids when they ask me why I’m on my phone!

I was at some sporting event like this with my dad when I was younger. He was quiet, seeming like he was lost in his own thoughts. Then he suddenly said, earnestly, “Amazing to think in 100 years, all these people will be dead.”

What about people who are allergic to their diplomas, though?

Even if you went to the Robert E. Lee High School for the Continued Glorification of the Confederacy, you should display that diploma with pride—that was obviously my point here.

Imagine having to negotiate a contract or have university policy clarified by the people who produced this.

It’s all going very well out there.

Always worth remembering that having a bachelor's degree at all makes you part of a privileged minority (~35% of Americans). Seeing a four-year diploma as a normal, unremarkable rite of passage is some serious class bubble stuff
