In April 1970, Jack Swigert found himself away on a last minute trip and realized he hadn't submitted his taxes on time.

Luckily, Mission Control in Houston confirmed that a trip to the Moon did in fact qualify him for a 60 day 'out of the country' extension. #Apollo13 #TaxDay

Great to meet Dr. Gerard van Belle and his family Tuesday and am giddy about asteroid Poppy. It is 1 to 2 kilometers in diameter.

On this day in 1993, Ellen Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman to fly in space on Space Shuttle Discovery's STS-56. Ochoa flew on four separate space missions and was the first Hispanic director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Discover her story: s.si.edu/40XLiNu
